Wedding Information for Guests

Directions to the Ceremony at Martha Cohen Theatre:

• The Martha Cohen Theatre is located INSIDE the Art Commons Building, which is a bit of a labyrinth containing several theatres and can be a bit bewildering…

• The Arts Commons is located on 9th Ave SE betwixt 1st Street SE (Macleod Trail Southbound) and Macleod Trail Northbound… Those of you that are locals have undoubtedly driven past this building many o’ time… For those of you that are from out of town, I would suggest relying heavily on Google Maps…

• We suggest walking to Arts Commons from your hotel or getting a ride downtown… If you opt to drive, there is a parkade in the Arts Commons building that can be accessed from MacLeod Trail Northbound (across the street from City Hall)…

• Once you have successfully arrived at Arts Commons, the Martha Cohen Theatre entrance is on the north side of the building facing Stephen Ave (8th Ave SE) / Olympic Plaza… Martha Cohen Theatre is directly beside the Jack Singer Concert Hall for those that have been before…

• Alas, at the end of the day, as long as you successfully make it to Arts Commons, you can just wander around the building aimlessly and you will eventually find the Martha Cohen Theatre…

At the Ceremony:

• Upon entry into the Martha Cohen Theatre, you will be greeted by a cocktail hour prior to the Ceremony from 3PM - 4PM

  • Please ensure that you are seated by 4PM - Drinks are allowed (and encouraged) for the Ceremony

• Once everyone has found their seats, and the vibrant chatter in the room has turned into soft murmur, there will be a short, love-filled, air-conditioned Ceremony for you all to enjoy

Directions to the Reception at The Palace Theatre:

• For anyone that struggles to find the Ceremony location, you are in for an absolute treat when it comes to the Reception venue…

• Upon conclusion of the Ceremony, we (and by “we”, we mean every gosh darn person in the place) will be walking as one big, rambunctious group down Stephen Ave to the Palace Theatre…

  • We will make special arrangements for anyone with mobility concerns…

• If you skip the wedding parade down Stephen Ave and are driving, there is a parkade on 2nd Ave behind the Palace Theatre, as well as the Bankers Hall parkades close by…

At the Reception:

• This will be a cocktail style reception, which essentially just means freedom… You are free to sit wherever you want because there is no seating plan, and when you feel that tum tum of yours starting to growl, you have free reign to eat whenever you get the urge…

• There will be appetizers and buffet style dinner from 6PM to 10PM, as well as a late snack to deliver that TKO punch that you will all most certainly be looking for…

• Drinks will be $5 each - As much as we wanted to make this one an open bar, a little skin in the game holds drink wasters accountable… And you guys just drink way too much and would put us in debt for years to come, so we hope you understand…

• Attire is semi-formal - Look good, be comfortable, don’t wear jeans or shorts, and if you feel the need to wear a hat, it best be a top hat…

• No Children - We love your kids with all of our hearts, but this night is a night for mommy and daddy to arrange a baby-sitter and show the world that they still know how to get a bit sloppy and cause a commotion…

• There will be plenty of live music and perhaps a few guest appearances on stage, so shine up your dancing shoes and get ready to party!
